Normally, I strongly dislike a movie made after a comic strip. (That’s even more true when comes to French bédés.) However, as I’ve rather enjoyed the movie “V for Vendetta”, I gave Watchmen a chance.

As a quick assessment: it’s definitely not the best way to put a comic book into motion pictures, yet not the worst way either. I still don’t know whether I liked it or not…

Two crucial quotes though:

OK, acum că titlul v-a făcut atenţi, iată şi articolul de doi bani din Ejacularea Zilei: „Mâna lui Dumnezeu”, drogul care vine prin căşti. Cam ăsta ne este nivelul de jurnalism. Senzaţionalist.

Faptele sunt următoarele. De multă vreme sunt cunoscutele efectele stimulării binaurale (binauriculare), respectiv crearea de percepţii false în creier ca urmare a interferenţei undelor sonore diferite percepute de fiecare ureche. I didn’t even know that there is such a thing, and even officially: the Impostor syndrome. Feeling like a fraud. Apparently, it does exist!

I’ve read a number of web articles on that syndrome. Most of them are dumb. I am not a “successful entrepreneur”, nor do I have a fabulous career, and I am definitely not a woman (actually, I very much doubt that a woman can feel this way!), however I feel very strongly that I am a fraud. This is what triggers my anxiety for most of the time!

Now what, Doc? (Hint #1: cognitive-behavioral shit is a lost of time. Hint #2: I know I am lazy.)

P.S.: What if I am really a fraud? Not stupid, not unknowledgeable, yet an impostor!

Sunt prea bătrân ca să fiu mort după folk… sau poate e tocmai pe dos, că sunt suficient de boşorog ca să-mi aduc aminte ce e aia. În fine, după tot tam-tam-ul care a precedat lansarea albumului Zoiei Alecu (nu e primul, dar e mai bun), mă aşteptam să se găsească dracului, un CD, sau chiar nişte MP3-uri legale (d’alea de le cumperi dând un SMS), ori chiar o ripare ilegală, ceva!

This is to recommend an atypical Shostakovich, in a recording by Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, under the label DECCA/London: Shostakovich: The Jazz Album.

The “normal” edition is from 1993, but there are slightly different versions from 1995 and 2008, with minor changes only on the first cover.

The CD includes: Suite for Jazz Orchestra No. 1, Suite for Jazz Orchestra No. 2 (in its previously-known form that comprised the “Waltz No. 2” movement you could hear in Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut, not in the “recomposed” 3-movement form mentioned by Wikipedia), the somewhat jazzy Piano Concerto No. 1, and the Tahiti Trot version of “Tea for Two”.
