Dans ma jeunesse, j’ai été captivé par dizaines de bédés, pour la plupart à l’occasion de leur parution ou réédition dans Pif Gadget ou dans l’antérieur Vaillant, le journal de Pif.

Bon, maintenant je n’ai plus l’âge (et Pif mourut pour une dernière fois, après avoir échoué à rétablir sa gloire d’antan), et les bédés modernes sont soit à forte teinte sexuelle (bien que ce n’est pas un problème pour moi, et Les naufragés du temps, qui n’est pas mal comme série, date de 1964, donc c’est loin d’être moderne, bien que Glénat la vende dans 2009), soit pour des enfants handicapés.

Toutefois, je trouve rafraîchissant de pouvoir feuilleter nostalgiquement des bédés de ma jeunesse, alors j’ai une petite collection, et puis j’ai aussi quelque 5 Go de scans.

Sauf que… Sauf que pour une considérable partie des titres, elles sont tombées dans le statut qu’on pourrait nommer abandonware : ils sont à la fois introuvables et il n’y a aucun plan de réédition. Maudite propriété intellectuelle capitaliste ! Quelle misère…

Prenons un exemple au hasard. Oui, je sais, c’est une série assez naïve, parue dans une époque stalinienne… Et pourtant, voici les faits :

Normally, I strongly dislike a movie made after a comic strip. (That’s even more true when comes to French bédés.) However, as I’ve rather enjoyed the movie “V for Vendetta”, I gave Watchmen a chance.

As a quick assessment: it’s definitely not the best way to put a comic book into motion pictures, yet not the worst way either. I still don’t know whether I liked it or not…

Two crucial quotes though:

• “Every day the future looks a little bit darker. But the past, even the grimy parts of it… Well, it just keeps on getting brighter all the time.” (Sally Jupiter, to Laurie)

In the last 4 years I’ve bought quite an important number of books. I have not read all of them. In an effort to make a point of the situation, I have drawn a list of the unread books (some of them are partially read though).

Of course, this is only about books on paper, because PDF and CHM files are a different matter (can you imagine I have actually bought 2 PDF books?). Also, I won’t mention the scanned comics I have not read yet. A last mention: one of the books just arrived, one was a prize, and another book was received for free to be reviewed, but this doesn’t mean it was properly studied.

Now that Watchmen is also a movie, I am curious to see whether the movie can keep up with the comics, the way V for Vendetta was a good cinematizing of the homonym graphical novel. I’m afraid that this time the movie is a shallow production, no matter Dave Gibbons liked it. Here’s what I could find at a very quick search:
